With a REST catalog as the current catalog, queries such as `SELECT count(*)` perform catalog function lookup before DataFusion planning. A 403 from that API prevents execution even when every function is registered locally. Bare registered scalar, aggregate, and window functions, including aliases and session UDFs, should resolve locally. Unknown bare names and explicit `catalog.database.function(...)` calls must still preserve catalog lookup errors. Nested REST functions, persistent views, and CREATE FUNCTION recursion validation must retain these rules. Regression tests should use a catalog that denies function lookup and check successful local execution as well as preservation of explicit catalog permission failures. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
