[~spetschu] Is the main reason you want support for declaring a ROW_TIMESTAMP
on a non pk column so that you can set the VERSIONS on the table and have HBase
automatically remove old data at compaction time? For your use case would you
always want to be able to set the timestamp used while upserting rows yourself
(instead of automatically using the server timestamp)?
I think the main reason we don't allow upserting data using a connection with a
SCN set is that it can cause problems with mutable indexes. [~jamestaylor] Do
you think we could allow writing data using a connection with an SCN set only
for immutable tables, and if so would that support this use case?
