   @virajjasani,  PR looks good. The title of the jira does not reflect the PR 
well. This is not a general query performance improvement. It is a metadata 
lookup performance improvement. I would suggest something like "Metadata lookup 
performance improvement for range queries". This PR does not have any tests for 
checking the number of metadata lookups for range queries. Can we add tests for 
that?
