HI Ismo, I just had a look and it seemed that this 250 has always been there ... I can't really say why. It might be related to the PDU size of the S7 1200 devices that I had. Keep in mind there's no real specification for the S7 and the S7 was the first protocol I reverse engineered in 2017 (Couldn't look at the code of other options as they were all GPL licensed). But the general problem is: A full sized 254 char string on its own exceeds the size of a PDU for an S7-1200 ... without an optimizer you can't really read it and currently you have no way to write it. However, especially with the new optimizers that we have (at least for reading) I think we should indeed change this to 254, as you suggest. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
