Currently, the {{closeFuture}} only completes after the {{LogAppenderDaemon}}
has started. However, when closing from the {{NEW}} state, the transition is
{{NEW}} -> {{{}CLOSED{}}}, and the {{LogAppenderDaemon}} was not started.
