The patch is quite involved. How about separate it to at least two JIRAs?
# Support timeout using withDeadlineAfter for the blockingStub
# Support timeout for the async calls and GRpcLogAppender (in one or two JIRAs)
BTW, the timeout should be configurable. How about adding configurable change
in #1? I don't mind if you want to do it in one more JIRA. :)
