I've added a patch RATIS-703.01.patch which contains your suggestion.
I also experimented with the attempt(CheckedSupplier<>..) and if a new
attempt(XSupplier..) method is added where X is any of the primitives this
problem will happen again. So I created a new patch RATIS-703.02.patch where
the attempt(CheckedSupplier<>..) method is renamed and contains your suggestion.
