What do you have in your special context optimizer rules? Are they logical, physical, or both? If you have users who want to use all the other portions like functions and tables without the optimizers, is that a supported workflow? If so then you may be able to leverage the datafusion-python package. Otherwise it's even more justification for pushing to expose more of the session context to python.
