There are way too many old pages to add links to manually, but I thought of a (hopefully) brilliant idea for how we can add them in a reliable and automated way. I think we can write a script to do the following. 1. Take the diff between 1.7.2 docs (with the canonical links) and whichever old docs we're considering (e.g 1.5) 2. Filter out the green diffs with canonical links 3. Apply those green diffs to the old docs (only for whatever pages that do exist in the old docs) This way, we can feel more confident that the canonical links are added in the right place, and we're not deleting lines.
