That was it 💯 For some reason, the default Python on my machine linked to the `python3` command was an x86 distribution indeed. After I fixed this and used an arm64 distribution to create my virtual environment, the installation worked just as expected 🎉 Thanks for spotting this! You might want to add a hint to the Readme that x86 MacOS distributions are not supported at this time without the work-around you provided earlier.
