Gus Heck resolved SOLR-15402.
-----------------------------
Resolution: Information Provided
Collaboration tools are always changing and you are of course welcome to invite
folks to collaborate with you in any way you wish, especially if you provide
the infrastructure, but I think you'll have more success with the users list
announcement that I see you have already made than with a ticket here. If it
were to become an official communication channel, it probably would need to be
managed by the project PMC and/or ASF. Discussions of that would likely be on
the dev or private PMC email lists... and in any case the mantra for technical
discussions for new features is "if it didn't happen on the list, it didn't
happen" which is important to ensure that folks who care and have valuable
knowledge have opportunity to comment on changes, and to ensure that such
discussions are recorded publicly for future reference in list archives that
are indexed by major search engines such as Google and Bing. (note that emails
from Jira are recorded in the issues list, satisfying that requirement)
We use Jira for documenting issues and offering solutions related to the code.
Since this is not about a code change I'm closing this ticket, but please don't
take that as any specific + or - on your idea.

> Hello!
> I had an idea of opening a Solr Discord server. Lots of modern projects have
> a Discord server and it proves itself well. I'd be glad if you'd give it a
> try. Tell me what you think!
> I've created the initial server so all of you are able to join and see how it
> looks.
