I think we're able to remove for 9.x and no need to wait until 10.x version,
since replacements for the deprecated APIs are available.
One might even argue that removal from >=8.7.0 onwards would have been or be
"okay-ish" though some users might get small build breakages if they use the
deprecated API currently and so removal from 8.10 onwards would be "not nice"
(and I can see no technical necessity or benefits for removal before 9.x
version).
