Christine Poerschke commented on SOLR-15718:
--------------------------------------------
{quote}... was introduced to do rolling upgrades from 8.5 to 8.6 (which lets
8.6 fall back to Java-serialization). ... When upgrading to 9.0 I suppose we
tell people to first upgrade to 8.11, so in 9.0 we don't need this. ...
{quote}
So if I understand this right then direct rolling upgrades from 8.5 to 9.x
would not be possible anymore, correct?
The [https://solr.apache.org/guide/8_10/solr-upgrade-notes.html#solr-8-5] entry
has a _"Keep in mind that this will be removed in future version of Solr."_
reminder, perhaps the Solr9 upgrade notes could 'close the loop' by mentioning
the removal also.
