I'm not going to veto your suggestion, just wanted to ask questions regarding
compat break. We have users that inherit Solr images in FROM, and all their
Dockerfiles would need re-work.
It's really unfortunate that we'd need to go the opposite direction just
because OpenJDK decided to stop releasing official JRE images.
I love the idea of a super slim Solr image!

which is on a slim Ubuntu, weighing 288Mb (99Mb compressed). Could that be a
new default, and then we could optionally publish one on
eclipse-temurin:17-jre-alpine in addition? But then we need to maintain two
Dockerfiles...
