Uwe Schindler commented on SOLR-16041:
--------------------------------------
Hi,
I don't see the full log files. Looks like it wants to start the solr-example,
but the solr start script fails with exit code 1. It tells that it has printed
to log file solr-example.log and solor-example-java11.log, but the files do not
exits in _tmp of workspace.
The permission error happening later is caused by the fact that there is no
Solr process with that PID available when it tries to kill it, so the kill
prints the permission denied.
Not sure how to debug without the log files available.
One idea: Maybe the solr.sh shell script is not executable after unpacking?

> The old ant build had a [target
> "nightly-smoke"|https://github.com/apache/lucene-solr/blob/branch_8_11/build.xml#L420:L466]
> that would build the release and run smoketester on it. This was run nightly
> before each release in Jenkins to catch issues early -
> [https://ci-builds.apache.org/job/Lucene/job/Lucene-Solr-SmokeRelease-8.11/]
> Could be useful to have a similar mechanism now.
