In case it's helpful, I brought the branch associated with SOLR-12457
up-to-date with `main`, and opened a new PR against the TLP Solr repo:
[apache/solr#828|https://github.com/apache/solr/pull/828].
To be clear, I'm still unsure how relevant SOLR-12457 might be to this issue.
