It would help if I actually attached the patch, wouldn't it?
According to the "BLIP" log entries with this patch, the extraStats variable is
sometimes false when I would expect it to be true, particularly because it is
AtomicBoolean. The usage of synchronized should have made it possible to use a
regular boolean, but the behavior is the same with that.
