This not only breaks the -package manager (for which there should've been a
test added to catch this)- a third party package (Yasa), but also users'
monitoring setups based on this endpoint.
I propose that we revert SOLR-16488 immediately and restore old functionality
for 9.2.1, whereas introduce the new API (with the older one deprecated) in
9.3. WDYT, [~jsweeney], [~gerlowskija].
