I dont really have a strong option here, maybe @anshumg can weigh in. I don't really know what the common thing to do is for a project that relies on the Kafka client. It's not like you can never upgrade it, but my worry around upgrade policy over time would be forcing later versions of the Kafka server to be used, especially in cases when users are not ready to upgrade their Kafka cluster or don't control it directly. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
