just add a "clean" task to the command to skip broken builds, and the final

Bah – i was completely oblivious to the fact that the problematic files were in
a build dir. Thanks.
(I generally avoid {{git clean -x}} because it deletes our (generated)
{{gradle.properties}} which i have local modifications to. )
