Christos Malliaridis updated SOLR-17909:
----------------------------------------
Description:
One of the UI navigation options that can be used is a breadcrumb. This
navigation option is currently used in the latest designs of the [Collections
section in the grid
view|https://www.figma.com/design/VdbEfcWQ8mirFNquBzbPk2/Apache-Solr-Admin-UI-v2-Concept?node-id=1997-7453&t=yxFihPpG3r7FXACm-1].
The breadcrumb navigation is a direct visualization of the current navigation
stack (childstack of decompose) and is useful for nested views / nested
navigation. This nesting can be seen as navigation layers.
h2. Task
Implement a breadcrumb navigation that can be reused in various places. You may
use and apply the new component in the Collections section for now.
h2. Acceptance Criteria
- When the user clicks on a breadcrumb element, the user is navigated to that
layer / navigation
- Decompose childstack entries are taken into account when populating the
breadcrumb navigation
- The last breadcrumb (current selection) is highlighted / selected
- When clicking on the last breadcrumb (current selection) it should not change
the navigation stack
- The user can navigate multiple layers back when selecting a breadcrumb other
than the previous (second from the end)
- When navigating back to a previous layer, the layers after that are dropped /
cleared / destroyed
- Forward navigation is not planned
- The UI is responsive and wraps the breadcrumbs by default (continues on the
next line when not enough space)
h2. Bonus Criteria (high complexity)
The below criteria can be taken into account if someone feels confident:
- The breadcrumb navigation allows the parent to define the wrapping behavior
- The wrapping behavior distinguishes between three modes, one is wrapping
(continue underneath when not enough space), one is horizontal scrolling and
one is collapsing (items in the center are shortened with three dots
- The breadcrumb navigation can be configured to collapse from the second
children onwards if there is not enough space
- If collapsed, the user can click on three dots (the collapsed part) and a
popup shows up where the user can select one of the collapsed sections
- When collapsed, the available space is populated with the tail of the
breadcrumb
h2. Additional Information
When addressing this task, focus on implementing a working example, rather than
fulfilling all (complex and not) criteria.
