I definitely don't mean merging segments across major versions, since that's precisely what we want to avoid. Ah, I see what you mean now. I can't think of an elegant way of doing this if I am to retain the current pattern of delegation though. It seems to me that we would likely need to overload the doFindMerges() (which is private) to be able to have that level of control (?) Likely prevent mixed versions in OneMerge objects (?) I don't know. On the flipside, keeping the older segments untouched might not be a bad idea.
