Mikael Sterner created SOLR-18337:
-------------------------------------
Summary: Setting SOLR_HOST_ADVERTISE to start tool gives
deprecation warning
Key: SOLR-18337
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-18337
Project: Solr
Issue Type: Bug
Components: cli
Environment: Windows
Reporter: Mikael Sterner
If you set the {{SOLR_HOST_ADVERTISE}} environment variable before calling
{{solr.cmd start}}, deprecation warnings are printed:
{noformat}
set SOLR_HOST_ADVERTISE=myhost.example.com
solr-10.0.0-slim\bin\solr.cmd start --user-managed
WARN - 2026-08-05 12:31:59.187; org.apache.solr.common.util.EnvUtils; You are
passing in deprecated system property host and should upgrade to using
solr.host.advertise instead. The deprecated property support will be removed
in future version of Solr.
{noformat}
Expected would be no deprecation warning, as this is the correct environment
variable from {{solr.in.cmd}}.
This looks like an omission in SOLR-15442 that it didn't update
{{SOLR_HOST=host}} in {{EnvToSyspropMappings.properties}} when adding {{host}}
to {{DeprecatedSystemPropertyMappings.properties}}, or possibly a midflight
collision with SOLR-17864 if the latter should have fixed this when swapping
out {{SOLR_HOST}} for {{SOLR_HOST_ADVERTISE}} in
{{EnvToSyspropMappings.properties}}.
