I opened sub-task SOLR-18416 with a proposed workaround (fork the Lucene 10.4
code) since quite frankly I can't see any viable way lucene can "move forward"
to fix this situation, and "rolling back" doesn't seem like a better option.

Unfortunately, I don't see any way around this problem until Lucene fixes the
bug in a 10.5.x release .... unless maybe we also want to fork
{{SortedNumericDocValuesRangeQuery}} -- but let's hope it doesn't come to that?
(not even sure how viable that might be)
