This JIRA is pretty vague. We've already implemented an external hashing based
solution for groupBys. We do not have a solution in the works for sorting,
either for groupBys or RDD.sort(). We have deprioritized the former, since we
have the hashing solution, but we don't have any way to do sort(), so that
would be an excellent feature to have.
Given what's been marked as a duplicate of this JIRA, let me update this one to
just refer to supporting external RDD.sort(). I will also unassign it, as I am
not currently working on this -- let me know if you'd like me to assign it to
you.
