Brian Burton commented on SPARK-25794:
--------------------------------------
Sorry, [~hyukjin.kwon], I didn't realize that the Spark docs were built as part
of the software.
> Update 1.6 REST API documentation to clarify [app-id]

> Key: SPARK-25794

> Priority: Major
>
> The [latest Spark documentation on the REST
> API|http://spark.apache.org/docs/latest/monitoring.html#rest-api] includes
> the following introductory paragraph:
> {quote}In the API, an application is referenced by its application ID,
> {{[app-id]}}. When running on YARN, each application may have multiple
> attempts, but there are attempt IDs only for applications in cluster mode,
> not applications in client mode. Applications in YARN cluster mode can be
> identified by their {{[attempt-id]}}. In the API listed below, when running
> in YARN cluster mode, {{[app-id]}} will actually be
> {{[base-app-id]/[attempt-id]}}, where {{[base-app-id]}} is the YARN
> application ID.
> {quote}
> If possible, it would be nice to have this in the [1.6
> documentation|http://spark.apache.org/docs/1.6.0/monitoring.html#rest-api] as
> well.
