Allison Wang created SPARK-35789:
------------------------------------
Summary: Lateral join should only be used with subquery
Key: SPARK-35789
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-35789
Project: Spark
Issue Type: Task
Components: SQL
Affects Versions: 3.2.0
Reporter: Allison Wang
This is a follow up for SPARK-34382. Currently the keyword LATERAL can be used
in front of a `relationPrimary`, which consists of more than just subqueries,
for example:
select * from t1, lateral t2
Such syntax is not allowed in Postgres. LATERAL should only be used in front of
a subquery.
