Gengliang Wang commented on SPARK-36523:
----------------------------------------
The new interval type is following ANSI SQL completely. Marking this one as
won't do.
> Casting invalid string to day-time interval should return null

> Key: SPARK-36523
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-36523
> Project: Spark
> Issue Type: Sub-task
> Components: SQL
> Affects Versions: 3.2.0
> Reporter: Gengliang Wang
> Priority: Major
>
> Currently when casting invalid string to day-time interval, Spark always
> throws an exception, with/without ANSI mode enabled.
> This should only happen when ANSI mode is on. When ANSI mode is off, Spark
> should return null for invalid cast.
