To move forward on this, I say that the build does not need any changes to
support MapR 4.0.2. You can simply set updated versions of things on the
command line. That is why I don't think the build needs or should have any
vendor-specific profile. It's not even needed for making vendor-specific binary
builds, which isn't ideal either, since that can be configured in the
{{create-release.sh}} script.
That is, I'd support:
- Adding the right build invocation that sets versions for these binary
releases in {{create-release.sh}}
- Adding similar MapR info to
http://spark.apache.org/docs/latest/hadoop-third-party-distributions.html
- Removing the {{mapr3}} and {{mapr4}} profiles (the {{mapr4}} profile is not
only out of date, it has redundant declarations anyway)
