I'd like to work on this, split into two PRs:
1. Method calls: s.upper(), s.lower(), s.startswith(p), s.endswith(p), with the
same NULL guard as len().
2. `p in s` lowered to contains, since it goes through the Compare path.
I would like to leave strip() out for now, as Spark trim only strips spaces
while Python strips all whitespace.
