You are correct. The problem is gone in the showcase app after updating the
jetty plugin to the latest version.

Please discard my comment concerning the asm dependencies, it appears i made a
mistake while configuring the the pom for {{struts2-bootstrap-showcase}} .
Conclusion:
Fixed when updating to latest jetty-plugin version
edit: after further investigation: only got fixed in the most recent version:
