Lukasz Lenart created WW-5776:
---------------------------------

             Summary: Remove UI tags without an HTML equivalent:
optiontransferselect, inputtransferselect, updownselect, doubleselect
                 Key: WW-5776
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WW-5776
             Project: Struts 2
          Issue Type: Task
          Components: Core Tags
            Reporter: Lukasz Lenart
             Fix For: 8.0.0

h2. Goal

Struts UI tags should map onto elements HTML itself provides. Four tags are
composite widgets with no HTML counterpart, built from several elements plus
framework JavaScript:
* {{optiontransferselect}}
* {{inputtransferselect}}
* {{updownselect}}
* {{doubleselect}}

The html5 theme cannot support them and renders a "not supported in this theme"
placeholder for each. Removing them lets the html5 theme cover the full Struts
tag set.

h2. Scope
* Components, JSP tags and FreeMarker models for the four tags
* Their templates in every theme (simple, xhtml, css\_xhtml, html5)
* The static scripts {{optiontransferselect.js}} and
{{inputtransferselect.js}}, and the doubleselect JavaScript built in
{{DoubleSelect.java}}
* Tests and expected-output fixtures, showcase examples, and the tag reference
documentation on the site
* A migration guide entry pointing users to plain {{select}} elements or a
client-side component of their choice

Deprecated in 7.5.0 by a separate ticket.
