Lukasz Lenart commented on WW-3680:
-----------------------------------
Closing as Won't Fix. Thanks for the patch, Jason, and sorry it sat here so
long.
Templates can already render recursive structures by calling themselves: a JSP
tag file, a FreeMarker {{<#macro>}} or {{<s:include>}} around {{<s:iterator>}}.
Because each level renders its own children, nested markup like {{<ul>}} menus
comes out naturally. A flattening iterator gives the page the items without
their depth. To support trees properly, the iterator status would need to
expose depth, and that's a new design, not this patch.
If you need tree iteration in the tag itself, please reopen this ticket or file
a new one describing your use case.
