--- Comment #5 from [email protected] 2011-03-16 13:02:18 ---

Steps to reproduce in Open Office Writer 3.3.0, build 9567(ignore original
comment and #1):

1. Start Open Office.
2. Select new text document
3. Select Rectangle(that's its tool tip) from the Drawing toolbar.
4. Draw a rectangle of arbitrary size on the document.
5. Press cmd-C
6. Press cmd-V
7. Move the rectangle by dragging it, to the right, for instance
8. Observe that no additional rectangle can be observed in the document.

The same applies to Line or Freeform Line, perhaps also to all other drawing
objects.

However, if one instead of pressing cmd-C and cmd-V, uses Copy and Paste from
the context menu(activated by right clicking on the document), a copy is placed
at the same position as the original object, as evident by dragging the object
in order to reveal the other.

Here's an alternative exposure of the same, or related bug:

1. Draw a rectangle of arbitrary size on the document.
2. Press cmd-C
3. Move the rectangle by dragging it, to the right, for instance
4. Press cmd-V
5. Observe that the rectangle appears to have moved back to it's original
position. Maybe the original rectangle is now hidden, and the copy have
appeared.

The menubar's Edit menu flashes when pressing the short cuts, so the key events
are registered.

I'm running a Macbook(system profile available on request). It's not heavily
configured or burdened by addon applications, but "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as
standard function keys" is enabled. Toggling it have no effect on the bug
however.

Note that using Copy/Paste from the menubar(at the top) neither works, it's
only the context menu which succeeds. The Copy/paste on the context menu
doesn't have cmd-C or cmv-V next to it. Maybe Copy/paste on the context menu
has a different function? Are there "two kinds" copy paste? This could be the
explanation to this behavior.

Perhaps it's strictly could be classified as a user error and therefore the
behavior to be by-design, but it perhaps isn't convenient from a
interaction/usability point of view.
