        Issue Type: DEFECT

        OS/Version: Windows Vista
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: P3
         Component: editing
        AssignedTo: [email protected]

I just spent the last 5 hours meticulously editing an important legal document
(that is my profession). While attempting a simple cut-and-paste, OpenOffice
Writer simply stopped responding. There was no "busy" cursor, no faded window,
no "not responding" message, it simply stopped taking any inputs. The cursor
stopped changing appearance as I moved between text and taskbar, and the
taskbar items stopped lighting up when I moused-over them.

This persisted for an extended period of time. I eventually chose to force
quit the program and re-load, since I had saved my work several times over the
course of the night and the auto-save backup function had saved even more
recently. When I re-opened the document, it attempted to load from the backup.
It gave me an error message saying that it failed to read, and said it was
loading the "original document" with a yellow checkmark instead of a green one.

This was indeed the original document. By which I mean, without any of the
backups. Also without any of the Ctrl+S saves I did while editing. Somehow,
it reverted all of my saves back to the document from 5 hours ago. It erased
my work despite repeated manual saves.

This is more than a glitch or bug. This is detrimental reliance. I would
never have used your software if I thought this was possible. Never in decades
of word processor use have I encountered something like this. Five hours of my
time is very expensive. Please explain why I should not sue you.
