Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: Openoffice Translates Innapropriate data such as WBS
codes to Dates
Classification: Application
Product: Word processor
Version: version58
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Windows NT
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P3
Component: formatting
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]

Sorry - I spent 30 minutes writing tis out and dopey bugzilla lost it when it
suggested (after posting) that i needed to fill in some other field.
The short version -
import text such as "3.1.1. (tab) Paragraph of text"
and use convert text to table
OOO writer Version 2.4.3 displays (as expected)
3.1.1 (Next Cell) Paragraph of text
(I back tracked to Version 2.4.3 to find the last good version)
In versions 3.0 to 3.3 converting the text to column, swriter interprets the
WBS code as a date and returns
3/1/20001 (Next cell) Paragraph of text
dd.mm.yyyy is NOT a valid date format in the current locale and the
interpretation of such pragraph numbers as dates is a bug, introduced into
writer at version 3.
Copying the correctly formatted Writer Version 2.4.3 table into a calc Version
2.4.3 spreadsheet generatesthe same incorrect formatting so the bug was
introduced first into Calc and spread into Writer in Version 3.0.
