In the insert dialog you have a list of sipported formats which gives you a
hint about the kind of files you can insert: mainly text document.
For convenience, you might want to load files with other extensions which are
not listed here. That's why there is a "All *" filter.

Sum up: this dialog is not made for inserting binary files and more, mainly
only text files. This dialog will always try to get the text out of the target
file. In your case, the binary content might have dumped into the document
which takes a long time.

But once again, Insert - Section - Link is not made for embedding videos.
