Looking at the internets, I don't believe git on windows handles symlinks
properly to work out of the box.
However, one thing I can do to alleviate this issue is to ensure that the
default build will not use symlinks. To work against hadoop-2.4 on Windows, one
will need to fix handling on symlinks on Windows.
Attached script to make the 2.6 build code path the source of truth and the
symlink in the module used for 2.4 build.
