Jason Lowe commented on TEZ-2628:
---------------------------------
Alternatively, if the Hive server knows which app ID the data goes to then it
can post to the application directory similar to how the client is posting
domains before it submits the app. I'd need to know more about the Hive server
use-case to know whether it makes sense to try to go via the HDFS route, the
web service route, or if it's just going to be a problem in general.

> This provides another history logging alternative that conceptually the same
> as the timeline logging service but logs the entities to a file rather than
> posting the events to the timeline server directly. When coupled with the
> timeline store plugin from YARN-3942 it allows the Tez job to be decoupled
> from the timeline server yet the Tez UI can still function properly.
