Specifically, the issue in this case is that hadoop common (excluded so
defaulting to 2.7) was making a call into hadoop auth (not excluded so 2.6).
And this cross-module API method could not be found due to API change in 2.7
so the AM never started since it was waiting for the WebServices to come up.
Surprisingly, the YarnUncaughtException did not seem to get called in this case
so the AM hung around for a long while before getting killed. It would have
been nice to have the exception logged in the AM log to debug this. [~jlowe]
did all this analysis and I am just relaying the information. I'll look into it
further tomorrow regarding the UncaughtExceptionHandler issue.
Agreed [~hitesh] about the longer term solution.
