I can backport this all the way to 0.7.x if needed. I am not sure how many
folks are trying to use a large timeout.
[~jeagles] to add to your point, do you see any benefits in moving to
config.getLong() instead of the current getInt()? I probably need to fix the
docs to mention that any negative value will disable the timeout check.
