[~abstractdog], if I recall [~ahussein]'s analysis correctly, guava added
single argument optimization in later versions to avoid the variable arguments
function call overhead. Unfortunately, this causes binary incompatibility
(though source is compatible). TEZ-4074 is the jira Reference.
