I know especially back then, a lot of decisions were made in github tickets, conference rooms, and sometimes private spaces. The team was still getting the hang of the "Open" part of open source. (And honestly, could probably still use some improvement in that space still.) You've got a really good point about the team members being very different now, as well as the project. It really sounds like this is a conversation ripe for the list.
