Arno Toell commented on TS-2562:
--------------------------------
Well, there is a patch, and there is the pristine Debian/Ubuntu init script,
that is, the one that is actually used. That means it should be easy enough to
bring either solution to 5.0. However, someone would need to tell me what
approach you prefer:
* merge the patch, that allows us to have a single script co-existing with
other platforms and init systems (!Debian)
* use the _actual_ Debian init script:
http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/trafficserver.git;a=blob;f=debian/trafficserver.init;h=ad3445631a655b23052abf943a9799fbb5b884a4;hb=HEAD
* try to merge both, which needs people to carefully test the result on other
platforms
> Init script has poor support for Debian/Ubuntu

> Debian/Ubuntu init script should call log_end_msg to return exit code instead
> of log_daemon_msg. Also, it's more informative to print $TS_PACKAGE_NAME
> instead of $DESC when reporting service name in start/stop/restart. Last
> problem is lack of "status" command.
