the reloading of the params, but, does a little bit more (since, I was playing
with that, I thought I might just do the additional changes, as a base for
adding API hooks for overriding in the future). Anyway, since, you all don't
like the extra changes, I am limiting the changes to a minimum (just support
reloading of the params)
