Fwiw, I really do not think that we should keep the encapsulation (ink_ / 
ats_). Just as with other libraries, we generally don't abstract / encapsulate. 
The reason for having the encapsulation before was to deal with different 
compilers / platforms, but CK takes care of that for us. We shouldn't 
encapsulate something that already encapsulates it :).
