Yeah, known "problem". Optimizations were put in, which made it about 100x
faster, but relies on the binary format. We could add an option that uses the
slower log "unmarshalling" code, and use that for all other input log formats.
I don't think that would be terribly difficult either, but I don't think we
should remove the optimized path for the binary format.
