The newly developed JNI API for reading/writing to hdfs could be used for LOB
read/write if it can support efficient reading/writing to HDFS. The larger the
buffer sizes it can support, the fewer the number of chunks the caller will
need to read/write. This is related to the work done as part of Jira :
