This is part of the general problem where the 32-bit OOo hangs if it tries to run with 64-bit Java. It's possible to disable Java for the installation, but attempting to go to the tools>options>java menu freezes the application again. (I'm trying to see if using a 32-bit version of Java, installed by hand, will work.)
