When building the scheduler interface, we pull the whole protobuf repo. While
the source files are not that big, the git history (that we actually don't
need) makes it a bit slower to clone it.
We actually want to check out the latest tag, that we could do without cloning
by getting the tag with {{git ls-remote --tags}}) and cloning/checking out just
that revision with {{git clone --depth=1}}. Though the the scheduler build time
is not a bottleneck, I think we can improve the build time a bit.
